Course description:

Το μάθημα προσαρμόζεται στις ανάγκες του κάθε μαθητή και στο κάθε επίπεδο. Ως βάση θα χρησιμοποιούμε ένα βιβλίο εκμάθησης Ελληνικών, καθώς και αποσπάσματα από άλλα βιβλία, έγγραφα powerpoint που αφορούν γραμματική και λεξιλόγιο, ηχητικά μηνύματα και βίντεο, ταινίες, κ.λπ.

The courses are structured accordingly to each student's needs. We are going to use a basic book for learning greek, as well as extra material from other books, power point documents of grammar rules and vocabulary, extra exercise, audio and video files, movies, etc.

Los cursos se estructuran segun su nivel. Utilizamos el libro de alumno para aprender griego y ademas extra material de otros libros, documentos de gramática, sintaxis, vocabulario. Extra ejercicios,expresión escrita y oral, conversación cotidiana, archivos auditivos y videos, etc.

Teaching approach:

I combine the scientific knowledge of greek language with great communicative skills, persistency and patience for every single student and a wide knowledge of Greek history and culture. My approach always depends on each individual's needs, whether that is learning for pleasure, language exams, or building on conversational skills. Also: Busines conversation, General conversation, Grammar, Helping Resume/CV, Helping with homework, Listening practice, reading and writing.

I am a 38 years old, native Greek linguist of modern Greek and I reside in Athens. My studies involve history, archaeology and teaching of Greek as a second/foreign language. I offer lessons for individuals or groups, via Skype or "live person" courses. I have great experience and a lot of students from all around the world. Our lessons are going to be tailored to each person's needs.

Proficiency level

Your Greek proficiency level will be evaluated by the teacher according to this framework:

A1 - Beginner:

  • Understands familiar Greek expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of concrete needs.
  • Can introduce him/herself and answer questions about personal details such as the place of residence and belongings.
  • Can hold a simple conversation in Greek if the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

A2 - Elementary:

  • Understands frequently used expressions related to areas of immediate relevance like personal and family information.
  • Can communicate in routine situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar matters.
  • Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and immediate needs.

B1 - Intermediate:

  • Understands the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in everyday situations.
  • Can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where Greek is spoken.
  • Can produce simple, connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
  • Can describe events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give explanations for opinions and plans.

B2 - Independent:

  • Understands the main ideas of complex Greek text on both concrete and abstract topics.
  • Interaction with native Greek speakers can happen with fluency and spontaineity and without strain for either party.
  • Can produce clear text on a wide variety of subjects and expose a point of view given the various options.

C1 - Advanced:

  • Understands a wide range of demanding, longer Greek texts, and recognizes implicit meaning.
  • Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
  • Can use Greek flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
  • Can produce detailed, well-structured text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns and connectors.

C2 - Proficient:

  • Easily understands virtually everything heard or read in Greek.
  • Can summarise information from different spoken and written sources and reconstruct arguments in a coherent presentation.
  • Expresses him/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in complex situations.
