Course description:

This class is perfect for adults (16+) who want to improve their listening and speaking skills. Low-intermediate to advanced students are placed accordingly. Classes will be designed to meet students' needs, whether it be to improve conversation, pronunciation, grammar, or discourse skills.

Teaching approach:

Classes are taught using eclectic ESL methods and communicative approaches focusing on listening and speaking skills. Classes are usually integrated in cultural aspects of the USA and UK to provide authentic discourse and practice in how language is naturally used in native speaking countries.

Course program:

Unlike many English schools, there will be a scope and presentation and a clear connection between the classes. Culture, art, history, and social content will be contextually linked to the target language throughout you studies with me.

I am a TEFL and TKT certified instructor with a bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy & Religious Studies. I also hold an MA TESOL from the University of Southern California. A1 - Beginner:

A2 - Elementary:

  • Understands frequently used expressions related to areas of immediate relevance like personal and family information.
  • Can communicate in routine situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar matters.
  • Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and immediate needs.

B1 - Intermediate:

C1 - Advanced:

  • Understands a wide range of demanding, longer English texts, and recognizes implicit meaning.
  • Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
  • Can use English flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
  • Can produce detailed, well-structured text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns and connectors.

C2 - Proficient:

  • Easily understands virtually everything heard or read in English.
  • Can summarise information from different spoken and written sources and reconstruct arguments in a coherent presentation.
  • Expresses him/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in complex situations.
