In this course I will teach you how to build up and interpret narrative through the traditional aspects of painting and drawing. How the use of color and brush strokes offer different story interpretations through studio practice as well as art history. Discovering by making.
In my course you will get a hands on teaching approach. One on one with each student. The beginning of each course will discuss what you want to do with the art you make, followed by the making of the art with discussions and showing you examples of how other artists approach subject matters. At the end of each course will be a critique. A studio visit of contemporary working artists will be set up for the students to meet and see how a professional working studio exists in Berlin.

ÜBER DEN LEHRER
Hello, I am Kottie Paloma and I am originally from San Francisco, California. I have been living in Berlin for 3 years now. I am an internationally known artist. My work is in the public collections of MOMA NYC, The Bavarian State Library, Harvard, Stanford University and The University of Applied Arts in Vienna to name a few. I currently hold a studio in Neukolln in Berlin where I make all of my art. My emphasis in my own art practice is on figurative, comics, book making, abstraction and sculpture with using found objects. I work with acrylic, oil, spray paint, found objects and glitter.
In my course I will offer painting, drawing, collage, bookmaking and show you various ways to improve on compositions, color and story telling as well as all of the basics for beginners. I will show you how to step away from what you are making to identify ways to improve on the concept, and the final look of the work of art, as well as how to explain what you are doing to others. This will be achieved through discussions with me about your work and through examples of my contemporaries and past artists in the these fields.
My goal for this course is to help you figure out what works best for you through experimenting with different mediums, and concepts.
