(Contemporary Art in Berlin)
This course will focus on the landscape of contemporary art in Berlin. Each week, we will meet at a different art gallery where we will discuss the artists showing and their individual artworks, as well as the history of the art galleries and art districts themselves.
This course is unique because it is tailored to and responds to the Berlin art world today. It is a fantastic opportunity to get out of the classroom and discuss art and artists in real time. Additionally, students will meet artists, gallerists, and other art world professionals who can contribute greatly to the course's conversation.

ÜBER DEN LEHRER
Hello! My name is Roxanne and I am an American art curator and writer living in Berlin. My research interests include Early Modern Islamic art, particularly of the Ottoman Empire, as well as sound, video, and socially engaged art practices. I love teaching because I find such great joy in sharing my enthusiasm for art and art history. Art history engages subjects as seemingly far apart as politics and science, anthropology and math, philosophy and psychology, which makes it an exciting and enriching field for anyone to explore. In my classes, we will visit art galleries and museums in Berlin in order to contextualize our conversations.
