Hi, I'm an English teacher and I have moved to France to improve my french (and to go climbing a lot!). I have a PGCE in English and have been working in schools for the past four years teaching and supporting students in their reading and writing of English. I love being able to make a difference in someone's abilities and to see my students gain confidence to use their new skills. Through learning French, I know what it is like to learn a new language so I am patient and encouraging. I can also offer proof-reading of essays and dissertations for students studying English at a higher level.

Expérience

I have taught English in Sheffield, England in secondary schools. The students were aged between 11 and 18. I have also taught English to children aged between 7 and 9, also in Sheffield.

Hello, I'm an American English teacher living in Lyon.

I'd say what I enjoy most in life is this: (1) learning new things, (2) helping others learn new things, and (3) spending time outdoors. Luckily, I've had the opportunity to do these things a lot. I worked for several years as a reading tutor in Boston, and spent a few more years working in schools, including a language school in Greece (which is where I completed my TEFL certificate to teach English in 2012). I've also worked as an educator in several informal settings, like nature centers, a science museum, and a historical tour company.

If we get the chance to work together, I'll make sure that the time we spend learning is relaxed, enjoyable, and focused on exactly what you want to improve in.

I will "root for you" (as we say in the States) and be your #1 fan!

Bonjour, je suis américain, diplômé en enseignement d'anglais, actuellement à Lyon.

Je dirais que ce que j'apprécie le plus dans la vie c'est ça : (1) apprendre des nouvelles choses, (2) aider aux autres gens à apprendre des nouvelles choses, et (3) passer du temps dehors.

Heureusement, j'ai eu la chance de faire cettes choses beaucoup. J'ai travaillé pendant plusiers d'années en tant que formateur de lecture à Boston, et j'ai passé quelques années de plus en travaillant aux écoles, parmi lequel une école de langues en Grèce (c'est là que j'ai obtenu mon Certificat d’Enseignement de la langue anglaise, CTEFL, en l'an 2012). Par ailleurs, j'ai travaillé en tant que éducateur dans des cadres informels, telles que des centres d'éducation des sciences naturelles, des visites guidées historiques, et un musée.
