Patricia Stoeckl

DETeacher from Germany. Speaks German, English, French.

Mother language: German

About the teacher

Hallo, hi, salut! I am from a small village in Bavaria and am the eldest of 4 children. I am a very open, curious person and can get enthusiastic quickly about things that interest me. That is probably why I have always liked to travel and to live in other countries (Europe, USA, Mexico, Canada and only recently Nicaragua).I have always taken my studies and jobs seriously without losing track of my own true passions. You can count on my good sense of responsibility, reliability and honesty. I also see my strength in organizing and that I love to be challenged.

Qualifications

I studied German as a Foreign Language in Germany for 2 years and did an internship in a German language institute in Mexico. My main study was primary school teacher with the principal subjects being German, English, Maths and Music.I obtained both studying diplomas in Germany in 2006.

Experience

My working experience with private German classes includes teaching young German-Quebecois how to read and write, preparing a high-school class for a school-trip to Germany and helping students of all age to go through official German tests, amongst other. I like to go from what the students know and need. For sure, I will offer my own materials and books but I am very open to adapt to individual wishes. Creating and designing hand-outs and work-sheets are my specialty! :) In general, I like to combine teaching material with realistic examples, theatrical elements and lively explanations.

Constanze Baur

DETeacher from Germany. Speaks English, French, Japanese.

Mother language: German

About the teacher

I have always been passionate about studying and speaking foreign languages. As soon as I started learning English, I would spend my past-time memorizing words, reading books, watching movies in English. I have tutored high-school students and young adults from when I was a high-school student. Then I then completed my Bachelor degree in International Business Management (minor: Doing business in China), which was taught completely in English and through which I have been exposed to many different cultures. Over the last 8 years, I have lived in several countries all over the world. Most recently I have been teaching English for over 2 years in Japan at a small conversation school and have taught German private lessons online as well as face-to-face. I have taught conversation to people of all ages in small and larger groups as well as one-on-one.
I believe you can speak English or German even if you only know a few words and I encourage students to make use of what they know. It's all about being passionate and curious! Having been exposed to so many cultures and languages you can have memorable chats with me about anything that interests you. My lessons are customized to all levels and you will feel comfortable speaking English or German at your level and pace.

I'm extremely passionate about languages and having learned 5 languages over the years via self-study and lessons, I will happily share valuable study strategies and tips on how to improve the way you study.

Margarethe Leopold

DETeacher from Germany. Speaks English, German.

Mother language: German

About the teacher

Hello,
I’m Margarethe and I just moved together with my family from Germany (Jena) to Montreal in February 2019. I’m a professional German and ESL teacher and I have a lot of experience in teaching kids and adults on all kinds of levels. I’ve been teaching native speakers as well as total beginners.
Teaching means to me creating an inspiring space to learn not only about vocabularies and grammar but about the culture. Most of all I try to help my students establishing confidence in speaking the language by using all kinds of activities and games.
Right now I’m starting to learn French so I really know what it is like to learn a new language and how frustrating this can be.
Personally, I am very interested in music, theatre, ballet and literature, while I also really like to talk about political issues.

Qualifications

I got a state exam from the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena in 2016, which is like a master in German and English education. I did a teachers training for 1,5 years on a German High school and got a second state exam at the end of it.

Experience

I’ve been teaching German and English (ESL) in an international school in Germany, as well as in a German high school (age of students: 11 - 19 years). I did some tutoring for German and ESL when I went to university and there I was mostly teaching kids but also a few adults.
In April 2019 I started teaching adults in a language school. Furthermore, I’m teaching at the German Saturday school and I got private students.

Alissa Birle

DETeacher from Germany. Speaks French, English, Italian.

Mother language: German

About the teacher

Bonjour!

Qualifications

B.A. (diplôme all. et fr.) en études franco-allemandes (FU Berlin, Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III, 2017).
M.A. lettres romanes (FU Berlin, UdeM, 2020).
Certificat en création littéraire (UQAM, 2022).

Experience
