What do you like the most about teaching Greek?
A:

What I like the most about teaching Greek is learning and understanding the origin of the Ancient Greek word. Understanding the actual meaning of the word can take you to a whole other level in you grammar but mostly in your understanding of using the words correctly. I enjoy showing my students that many of the words we are using today are actually Greek for example : doctor, democracy, marathon, athlete ,planet, acrobat, galaxy, melancholy, narcissism, phobia, panic, scandal, sarcasm, and of course many words that doctors and scientists use are based in Latin and Greek language. When did you start teaching Greek?
A:

I started teaching Greek in a very young age. Coming from a big greek family I enjoyed helping my sisters and cousins with their Greek literature lessons. Later on having that experience I decided to teach Greek to people who didn't speak any Greek but desire to learn it. I have been teaching over 6 years.

In your experience, what are the most common reasons for wanting to learn Greek?
A:

People who are interested in language origin and morphology are mostly people who want to learn Greek. Also having lived abroad people who have married a partner that is greek are interested in leaning Greek

How difficult is it to learn Greek, compared to other languages?
A:

Is very difficult to learn Greek but with the right native tutor, with fun and of course will to learn you will be able to speak Greek very soon.

What aspects of Greek culture are your students usually interested in?
A:

The greek food and the traditional music

What's the hardest part of being a Greek teacher?
A:

To explain articles and grammar and even words that cannot be explained and translate in any other language

What makes a good Greek student?
A:

Listening to the tutor and never give up after making mistakes. Be happy and keep trying!! Hard work pays off

What is your advice for students who are struggling?
A:

Ask me more questions and we will keep trying together. Don't give up

How long does it take to become fluent in Greek?
A:

2 lessons every week and 12 months you will speak Greek fluently!!!
