Learning Turkish in preparation for travel to Turkey

(Vancouver)

June 1

I would like to travel to Turkey probably next year or two years from now. Could you please tell me how many lessons I should take just to be able to get around? Buying tickets, ordering at restaurants, asking for directions and things like that. How long in advance should I start learning? I appreciate your answers.

Hello there! The best, you should start your lessons right away. The more you have time, the more you will learn. I believe you should take at least 10 lessons, but this is not an exact number of course.

Hello. Sorry for replying so late, I had a rough academic year so I didn't have time to look here. First of all, you need to learn the basic expressions in Turkish language up to A1 level. If you start learning now, you'll get pretty advanced in a year or two. Course hours may vary depending on your progress, age and the education you have received. However, I guess you can reach the point you want in 3 or 4 months.

Hello ! I'm Philippa. I have studied turkology and live in both Greece and Turkey. Turkish language is my passion. I have many students all over the world.

As for how fast you can learn the Turkish language

it depends on you and how much you study. If you really study and study even 15 minutes a day I can say that in about 6 months you will be able to communicate and have basic conversations in Turkish. I will be very happy to help and advise you as well when you visit Turkey.

The lesson will have both grammar and lots of practice speaking and making dialogues.

I look forward to hearing from you and your questions about anything else you need :)

Tanıştığımıza memnun oldum /Nice to meet you :)

I guess it depends what kind of learner you are, but 5 lessons should work!
