From any SOURCE, build your slate of 6 short film ideas. Then, prepare to transform an idea into a script. Acquire and harness the key elements of STORY, knowing how to create CHARACTER, and "an ear" for believable DIALOGUE. Finally, smash the slate, to leave the best idea for scripting.
Similar courses would typically ask a writer for a single story idea. I ask SIX (And 5 of these ideas will be shelved anyway). It is not only about pushing creativity to the highest standards, the process also teaches writers how to "let go" of ideas they may have become to attached to. As a screenwriter, and director, the theory is accompanied by insight, and first-hand experience of the screenwriting process.
