Good Iranian movies to practice Persian

(Mexico City)

August 4

Could someone recommend Iranian films that can be easily bought or found online and that are good for practicing Farsi? It would be helpful if the language is spoken clearly and slowly because I am a beginner. Thank you for your help!

I’ll admit it while learning Persian through a film can be fun, there are a few disadvantages for beginners. The spoken and written forms are very different, so without a teacher you will getting confused. Or maybe, you will just get few words and also it can be difficult to keep track of what you’ve learned, because it takes time and effort to take notes, and we want to have an enjoyable experience in watching the movie, without having to be interrupted every minute to write down a word and check the dictionary.

I recommend short animation for kids. you can find many movie and cartoons and Iranian website (like youtube) APARAT.COM

Beginning with movies might not be the easiest way to learn Persian, unless you practice them with someone (supervised movie sessions) who is aware of the nuances of the conversational Persian lg, expressions, accent, etc. I would go with podcasts, language exchange with native speakers, books with listening sections, etc. first.

By the way, try "The Past" by Asghar Farhadi. Also check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSVEu4uem-0 for learning Farsi with Iranian movies

Oh, and series are much easier to follow up on, as you get a handle on the story-line, characters, names, and cultural notes after a while.
