Online resources for learning French

Are there any ressources online you would recommend for learning French as a beginner? I am thinking of taking private classes with a tutor, but I thought maybe it would be a good idea to complement the classes with another method...

I would recommend starting lessons with a tutor and then see what they advise. One of the advantage of having a tutor is that they know you and can advise the best way for you to make progress. There are great ressources onlines but it`s hard to know which one`s the best for you without knowing you.

Hi ! As a beginner it's quite difficult because there's so much on the internet. I'd be more in favor of gradually providing videos and online dictionaries if necessary.

These provide clear progression and grammar foundations.

Duolingo (Free): Great for beginners; introduces vocabulary and basic grammar through gamified lessons.

Français Facile (Free): A very rich site with grammar lessons, exercises, and listening activities for beginners.

BBC Languages – French (Free, archived): Clear explanations and cultural tips, great for English speakers.
