I offer classes in English that focus on conversation, expressions for everyday use, grammar, and cultural knowledge. I tailor my lessons based on your needs and motives for learning interests and create my own worksheets and activities.
My teaching approach is effective because I create my own worksheets and activities based on individual needs. I use professional external resources such as lesson books, grammar guides, and videos to draw material from and am familiar with the CEFR levels (A1-C2) but if you are studying for a different examination, I would be happy to create a course plan that can meet those goals! I teach grammar in a way that makes it fun and easy to use.
My lessons are loosely based on the PPP approach (presentation, practice, and production), but I prefer to use activities that are applicable to real life situations as often as possible. It is important for me that you speak as much as possible, and I work to make that process easier for you through the design of the lessons' activities.

My name is Emma. I am a recent university graduate from Canada, and I would like to help you learn English. Currently I am a volunteer for an English program for immigrants in my city, and I've just completed a 180 hour TEFL certificate. I also speak Spanish and I volunteered as a language assistant in an English classroom when I studied abroad in Spain. Learning Spanish made me realize how interesting and confusing the English language actually is! I am a grammar nerd but my goal to assess your needs and interests, find out why you want to learn english, and then help guide you move forward to reach your goals. We can just chat, or we can chat and focus on certain topics, vocabulary, correct grammar usage, pronunciation, at whatever pace you need. I think learning a language can be an enjoyable experience with minimal stress, and as I’m always looking to improve, don’t be afraid to tell me what works best for you.

Actualmente, acabo de terminar la carrera en la que desarrollo internacional, español, y la comunicación intercultural. También he recibido un certificado un TEFL (la enseñanza de inglés) y soy voluntario de un programa en la biblioteca de mi ciudad donde enseño inglés a inmigrantes y refugiados recientes. I have been a tutor for an English Language program for recent immigrants and refugees at the public library in Halifax, NS where I've tutored women from Yemen and Brazil. I've also acted as a language assistant in an English classroom in a primary school in Spain.
